Effectless cut in the Laplace operator eigenvalue problem
Abstract
This paper addresses the eigenvalue problem for the Laplace operator in a bounded planar domain. The general theory of compact self-adjoint operators implies that the spectrum of the problem is discrete and tends to infinity. While finding the spectrum for an arbitrary domain is a highly complex problem, well-developed methods exist for estimating the first eigenvalue in certain types of domains. One such method involves constructing an ``effectless cut'' --- a topological cut that does not alter the first eigenvalue of the operator --- as proposed by Hersch and Weinberger. Additionally, when the domain is a ring, a method exists for approximating the first eigenfunction using a Morse--Smale function. In this paper, assuming the first eigenfunction of the Laplace operator on a ring to be a Morse--Smale function, we establish the existence of an effectless cut homeomorphic to a circle. For a domain consisting of a 2-disk with more than one hole, we also demonstrate the existence of an effectless cut that separates one boundary component from the others. We present examples of cuts that are not homeomorphic to a circle.

On solutions of one class of third-order ordinary differential equations with potential operators
Abstract
In this paper, an analogue of the Bernoulli method for finding solutions of a class of third-order ordinary differential equations with potential operators is developed. Helmholtz potentiality conditions are also derived for this purpose. The theoretical results are illustrated with specific examples.

On the behavior at infinity of solutions to systems of differential equations with almost-periodic coefficients in the linear terms
Abstract
A criterion for the asymptotic stability of the zero solution for systems of differential equations with almost-periodic coefficients in the linear terms is established in terms of the solvability of the Lyapunov differential equation. A uniform estimate for the solutions of such systems is derived, making it possible to determine the rate of decay as $t \to +\infty.$ The attraction domain is characterized, and an estimate for the rate of convergence of the zero solution for systems of nonlinear differential equations with almost-periodic coefficients in the linear terms is obtained. Robust stability under almost-periodic perturbations is investigated.

Dirichlet problem for an elliptic equation with a shift the lower-order derivatives
Abstract
The solvability of a boundary-value problem for an elliptic differential-difference equation containing a shift operator in the lower-order derivatives is investigated in a half-plane. An explicit solution to the problem is constructed, and its smoothness at every point of the half-plane is proved. Conditions on the equation's coefficients that guarantee the solvability of the problem are determined.

On the Cauchy problem for mixed-type functional differential inclusions Banach spaces
Abstract
This paper establishes local and global existence theorems for integral solutions to the Cauchy problem for a class of semilinear differential inclusions of mixed type with deviating argument in Banach spaces. The proofs employ topological methods of nonlinear analysis for set-valued condensing mappings.

On the spectral properties of a difference operator with incommensurable shifts on a finite interval
Abstract
The paper studies the spectral problem for a difference operator with incommensurable shifts on a finite interval. Such operators arise in the analysis of boundary value problems for differential-difference equations. The spectral problem is investigated by passing to a discrete problem on a strip in the integer lattice. Using an analysis of the geometry of this strip and the associated recurrence relations, a localization estimate for the eigenvalues on the complex plane is obtained. It is established that the modulus of every nonzero eigenvalue is strictly greater than one and strictly less than $(1+\sqrt{5})/2.$ In addition, zero is proved to be an eigenvalue of infinite multiplicity.

On the stability problem for linear autonomous differential equations neutral type
Abstract
This work addresses the stability (uniform, asymptotic, and exponential) of linear autonomous differential equations of neutral type. These types of stability are interpreted as properties of an integral functional defined on Lebesgue spaces of measurable functions. This approach enables a refined analysis of the most complex form of stability --- asymptotic stability --- and allows for distinguishing between cases where it coincides with exponential stability and cases where it does not. The latter case arises when the operator acting on the derivative is noninvertible, causing the equation to exhibit properties that distinguish it from differential equations of retarded type. A dedicated section examines uniform stability, for which an easily verifiable criterion has been established.

Stability of solutions for a class of systems of nonlinear difference equations variable delay
Abstract
This paper examines a class of systems of nonlinear difference equations with variable delay. Conditions for the asymptotic stability of the zero solution are established, and estimates are derived for the attraction sets as well as for the rate of decay of solutions at infinity. The study uses a discrete Lyapunov--Krasovskii functional of a special form.

Stability of the equilibrium position of a system of delay differential equations occurs in biological applications
Abstract
A nonlinear system of three differential equations with distributed delay and nonnegative initial data is studied. The first two equations describe the number of two interacting populations, and the third equation describes the number of complexes formed as a result of contact interactions between pairs of individuals. The duration of the complexes' existence is determined by a distribution function on a finite period of time. The resulting Cauchy problem has a unique solution on the semiaxis, and the components of the solution are nonnegative. The system of differential equations has one equilibrium position with nonnegative components, and this equilibrium position is locally asymptotically stable. Similar results have been established for systems of equations containing a concentrated delay and without delay.

Alternating-direction algorithms for solving equations with nonlinear diffusion, convection, and delay
Abstract
A diffusion--convection equation with two spatial variables and multiple time-delay variables is considered. The diffusion and convection coefficients are assumed to depend on the unknown function. The problem is discretized, and interpolation--extrapolation procedures are introduced to account for the time delays. Two variants of an alternating-direction method analog are constructed: one using piecewise-constant interpolation, and the other using piecewise-linear interpolation combined with extrapolation by continuation. Consequently, the method reduces to solving two three-diagonal systems of linear algebraic equations at each time step; these systems exhibit diagonal dominance given a sufficiently small discretization step. The order of the method's error is analyzed: the first variant is of the first order with respect to the time step $\Delta$ and the second order with respect to the spatial step $h$, whereas the second variant is of the second order with respect to both $\Delta$ and $h$. Stability issues are investigated. Under certain assumptions, the method's convergence is justified, and the order of convergence is established. Numerical simulation results are presented for a diffusion equation with two time-delay variables. The computed convergence orders for each discretization step in the examples were found to be close to the theoretically derived orders of convergence for the corresponding steps.

On the behavior of solutions to the initial value problem for parabolic differential-difference equations with a summable initial function
Abstract
In this paper we examine the initial-value problem for parabolic-type differential-difference equations with a single spatial shift in two cases. In the first case, the equation contains, in addition to a differential operator, a difference operator corresponding to shifts in the higher-order terms; in the second case, the shift appears in the lower-order term. We construct the solutions of the equations and then prove why these solutions are fundamental. In both cases, the solution to the initial-value problem is constructed in a form of a convolution of the fundamental solution with the initial-value function, which is assumed to be summable. The behavior of the constructed solutions and their derivatives at large time values are examined and the convergence of the resulting solutions to the initial function is also established. A visual comparison of the behavior and temporal dynamics of the fundamental solutions of the equations under different values of the parameters involved is implemented using the numerical left rectangle rule.

Periodic homeomorphisms without points of lower period closed orientable surfaces
Abstract
The primary objectives of the qualitative theory of dynamical systems are to identify a complete set of invariants for the topological conjugacy classes of mappings and to construct a model representative for each class. Periodic homeomorphisms of two-dimensional surfaces are among the simplest mappings from a dynamical perspective; however, the problem of their realization remains unsolved even for this family. Nielsen proved that the topological conjugacy class of an orientation-preserving periodic homeomorphism of a compact, orientable two-dimensional surface is uniquely determined by a finite set of data. Similar results were obtained by Ham for orientation-reversing periodic homeomorphisms. This paper examines both orientation-preserving and orientation-reversing periodic homeomorphisms --- specifically those without points of lower period --- on closed, orientable two-dimensional surfaces. The main results of the work are the identification of complete invariants for all topological conjugacy classes of such mappings and their realization.
