PECULIARITY OF PERCEPTION OF FOREIGN IMAGE BY NATIVE RUSSIAN SPEAKERS (BASED ON SET EXPRESSIONS)

Lapteva M.L.

Abstract

The relevance of the article is defined by the insufficient knowledge on the modern stage of development of linguistic thought for foreign images that can be representative for language consciousness of native Russian speakers. The purpose of this article is to identify cultural and linguistic potential of different groups of set expressions and to conduct a cross-cultural analysis of the perception of “alien” in the fragment of the national language picture of the world. The material for present research is based on set expressions that differ on the phaseological level by сognitive-discursive relations with foreign reality and that include a “foreign” component on the level of formal structure (Proletet kak fanera nad Parizhem/miss an opportunity, v Grezii est vse/It is an abundant place ed etc.).However, from the point of view of its activity and use frequency submitted material of set expressions is not always reflects the real communicative and pragmatic situation. The above cross-cultural analysis revealed trends of acculturation of “alien” in the Russian language consciousness. Phraseological verbalization of certain cultural images depends on its value and significance for the picture of the worldof members of the language and cultural community. Not all foreign images are fairly perceived by the native Russian speakers and therefore active realization of some codified set expressions is not always observed.

CULINARY CULTURE CODE IN THE SECONDARY NAMING OF THE RUSSIAN AND CZECH LANGUAGES: LINGUISTIC AND METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS

Markova E.M.

Abstract

The article considers the realization of one of the most active and stable metaphorical language models based on the development of secondary meanings of the Slavs’ food names and known as the culinary code, from the linguocultural and linguo-didactic standpoint. Culinary cultural code “encodes” our understanding of the world through food images having names. The author’s goal is to reveal the general and the specific in the development of secondary names of food; consider the food names specific for the ethnic cultures being compared, tracing their fate in the secondary semiosis - in metaphores, similes, phraseological expressions, proverbs - on the material of nouns in two Slavic languages, Russian and Czech. The article concludes that the facts of secondary naming transmitting culinary code often carry culturological information, objectify particular perceptions of the world by different ethnic groups, even those going back to the common Proto-Slavic roots. Bilingual comparison of lexical units transmitting cultural code allows a certain way of organizing lexical material for it to be studied by non-Russian Slavic audiences. On the basis of the linguocultural analysis of food names in the two compared Slavic languages, the article offers linguo-didactic grouping of the vocabulary in their figuratve meanings, in accordance with the belonging to a particular culture code. This will ensure effective mastering of the vocabulary of a certain thematic group not only in the denotative, but also in the conceptual meaning, making it possible to comprehend the culture, transmitted by the closely related language under study, in comparison with the native culture.

LINGUACULTURAL AND LINGUAPERSONAL ANALYSIS OF RELIGIOUS CONCEPTS IMPLEMENTATIONS IN RUSSIAN CREOLISED CARTOONS

Belova M.A.

Abstract

The article attempts to cover problems of religious concepts implementation by verbal and iconic symbols in ironic texts. The paper is devoted to definition of the correlation between the components of religious creolised texts and national linguaculture. Relevance of a research is defined by a rate of such texts in media and ambiguity of their misinterpretation both by the recipients learning Russian and Russian natives. The use of nonverbal sources gives to the recipient more freedom for decodingthat sometimes leads to negative consequences. Worldwide scandals anyhow related to caricatures (mostly, anticlerical) became more frequent. To Rosse Flemming, the editor of the Danish newspaper “Jyllands-Posten”, in the book “Case of caricatures of the prophet Muhammad” tells that he couldn’t imagine the role of future world crisis when in September, 2005 granted he gave his permission for the publishing twelve cartoons of the Muslim prophet [1]. In 2005 even more tragic event took place in Paris. Shooting at publishing house of the French comical newspaper of Charlie Hebdo was followed by lots of pros and cons of creativity of the killed authors. Such sharpness increases scientific interest to this area. There is a range of new papers devoted to studying of a phenomenon of a caricature, the description of the principle of its impact on recipients, setting standards of ethics and morals in the genre. The diachronic description of verbal representors of a concept of religion that express irony allows tracking changes in the modality of Russian natives.

LEXICOGRAPHIC REPRESENTATION OF PSYCHOLINGUISTIC MEANING OF THE WORD

Sternin J.A.

Abstract

This article discusses the various variants of lexicographical description of psycholinguistic meaning. The purpose of lexicographical description of psycholinguistic meaning is to present experimentally obtained psycholinguistic description of the semantics of the word in dictionary form suitable for useby ordinary native speakers, reflecting the nuclear and peripheral components of word Semantics. The paper is based on the results of associative experiments of different types, processing semantic interpretation of the results of psycholinguistic research. The study showed that different variants of lexicographical description of psycholinguistic meaning of the word can be offered. These variants vary in the amount and structure of the dictionary definition, in detailed description of the semantics.Variant 1 - the meaning is given in brief formulation followed by full description in seme terms in coherent definition with indexes indicating the brightness of each seme.Variant 2 - integrating the results of several types of associative experiments; integrated meanings are formulated. Lexicographical meaning is given in an abbreviated form, complete seme description is optional.Variant 3 - abbreviated version of the integrated lexicographical description of psycholinguistic meaning, including semantic components with index 0,01 and above, without connotative and functional characteristics. Peripheral components with index less than 0.01 provide a list as a reference section. With limited volume of the dictionary the description abridged versions are preferred/ If more extended definition is possible, entries with the inclusion of semantic components - both nuclear and peripheral - are preferred as it significantly increases the informative content of the lexicographic edition. In any case it is necessary to include in the definition the index of the brightness of each of the semantic component in language consciousness of native speakers and present meanings in the structure of the entry in descending order according to total brightness index.Lexicographic description of the results of fixing of psycholinguistic meanings makes it possible to fix the actual state of language consciousness of native speakers and to form an information base to describe everyday language consciousness.Consistent comparison of psycholinguistic entries and entries of traditional dictionaries is promising, which allow to fix the semantic development of the studied words in modern language consciousness.

PROLEGOMENA TO THE THEORY OF METHODS OF TEACHING NON-NATIVE LANGUAGE

Moskovkin L.V.

Abstract

The article presents the results of studying prolegomena of the theory of non-native language teaching methods. The relevance of this study is conditioned by the needs of development of the theory of non-native language teaching. The purpose of this article is to clarify the content of basic concepts of the theory of non-native language teaching methods - the concepts “methodological theory”, “non-native language”, “teaching method”, to define requirements for the methodological theories, to establish relations between the concept “non-native language” and related concepts, to analyze existing definitions of the term “method of teaching”.The materials of the study were scientific works, in which the basic concepts of this theory are used. The main method of the research was terminological-conceptual analysis. This study defined the requirements for methodological theories and for the theory of non-native language teaching methods in particular. Among them are general requirements for the theories (systemic character; generalized character, validity and reliability of its statements; depth, completeness, integrity, explanatory and predictive capacity; corresponding to the scientific style norms and logic of its presentation), specific pedagogical requirements (possibility of use its statements in the practice of teaching) and methodological requirements (reliance on general pedagogical statements; standing in the area of modern Russian theory of non-native language teaching).Analysis of the term “non-native language” in relation to the theory of teaching methods allowed to conclude that in the area of this theory is better to use it in most general, generic sense. Analysis of definitions of the concept “teaching method” showed that its better definition is a definition as the set of principles and techniques of teaching.
