II. FILE STRUCTURE

Please organize your text according to the following template (the template can be changed according to the article type). The editorial board has the right to change the sequence of the components during page composition in case of changes in the layout.

2.1. Abstract in Russian.

  • Article title. The title should fully reflect the article subject and its theme as well as the main objective (problem) of the article. The title should be original and concise.
  • Authors. The surname should follow the first letters of the first and middle names (P.S. Ivanov, S.I. Petrov, I.P. Sidorov).
  • Affiliated institutions. Please, give the official FULL name of the institution (without abbreviations). After the name of the institution, please, write the city and the country. If the authors of the article are from different institutions, please, put the uppercase numerical indexes before the names of the institutions and after the names of the authors to correlate the authors and their institutions.
  • Abstract of an original study should be structured: relevance, aims, materials and methods, results, conclusion. The abstract should contain the main provisions of the research; present the author’s opinion on the scientific problem considering the material and results; show the novelty of the article (research or review) – why this article differs from similar articles. The abstract should contain 200-300 words.
  • Keywords. 8 to 10 keywords helping find the article in search engines are preferable. Keywords in Russian should correlate to the keywords in English.

2.2. Abstract in English.

  • Article title. The title in English should be in accordance with the title in Russian.
  • Author names. Author names should be in accordance with the names in foreign passports or as in previously published articles in foreign journals. Authors who publish for the first time and do not have a foreign passport should use the BSI transliteration standard (see below).
  • Affiliation. It is necessary to specify the OFFICIAL ENGLISH NAME of the institution. The list of institution names and their official English variants can be found on the RSCI website of the Scientific Electronic Library eLibrary.ru.
  • Abstract. Abstract in English should correlate in meaning and structure (Aim, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusion) to the abstract in Russian and include 200-300 words.
  • Keywords. 8 to 10 keywords helping find the article in search engines are preferable. Keywords in Russian should correlate to the keywords in English.

2.3. The body of the text (in Russian, English) should be structured. The structure of the manuscript with the results of original research should correspond to IMRAD template and contain sections: introduction (justification), aim, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusion.

Introduction: justifies the relevance of the article, indicates the problem, previously partially considered / not considered in linguistics. Its practical importance is indicated. The contribution of the article to science is defined. The review of literature on the considered problem (history of the question) is given, scientific sources are compared (not less than 20-30). The introduction is 1-2 pages.

Aim: the purpose of the research is defined.

Methods and materials: the methods and materials of the research are outlined and described, the organization of the experiment is proposed, the methodology of work. Methods and materials take 1-2 pages.

Conclusion: results of article are summed up and perspectives are defined. The conclusion takes 1 page.

References usually include 20-30 sources. 2.4. Supplementary information may be presented in Russian, English or both languages.

Conflict of interests. Authors should clarify any potential or actual conflicts of interest. Concealment of potential and apparent conflicts of interest on the part of the authors, as revealed by the editorial board, may be a reason for refusing to review and publish a manuscript.

Funding. Authors should indicate funding of the article itself or the publishing process by a fund, commercial or governmental organization, private person, etc.). It is not necessary to indicate the amount of funding.

Acknowledgements.  Authors may express gratitude to people and organizations that contributed to the publication of the article in the journal, but are not its authors.

Example: Authors' contribution: Ivanov I.I. - concept and design of the research; Petrov P.P. – data collecting and processing; Sidorov S.S. - analysis of the obtained data, preparing the text of the article.

2.5. References.

The sources in references should be sorted in alphabetical order and correspond to the references in the text of the article, where they should be given in parentheses in the format "(Author, date)". Two alphabetical lists are given in references (the first is the list in Cyrillic, the second is the list in Latin).

  • Only published materials (including Internet resources) should be given in the reference list.
  • Excessive self-citation should be avoided, except when it seems necessary (e.g., if there are no other sources of information, or the present work is based on or follows up cited studies). It is desirable to limit self-citation to 3 references to works directly connected to the published research.
  • All sources in the reference list should be formatted in accordance with GOST R 7.0.5-2008.

Detailed rules for the references can be found in a special section "Bibliography formatting".

2.6. References.

  • References in Latin alphabet should be given to meet the requirements of international databases.
  • The list of sources in the References should fully correspond to that in the List of References. In contrast to the List of References, Russian-language sources in the References should be given in their Latin equivalent: they should be written in the letters of the Latin alphabet.
  • For many article and book titles, English-language translations are now available. All major scientific journals (including “Russian language studies”) now provide English translations of article titles when they are published. It is preferable to use the existing English versions of the titles.
    • those original Russian-language sources (and parts of them) that have an official translation into English (or another language that uses the Roman alphabet) should be cited in this translation;
    • those sources (or certain parts of the bibliographic description, except for the name of the publisher and the name of the journal) for which no translation exists, should be translated into English.
  • All sources in References should be in APA style. Detailed rules for bibliography formatting can be found in the special section "Bibliography Formatting".

2.7. The contact information of ALL AUTHORS should be listed consecutively. The section should contain the following data about each author:

  • Surname, middle name, first name (in full);
  • academic degree, academic rank, position, department, chair and full name of the organization (main place of work);
  • postal working address (with an index and name of the country), e-mail address, telephone number (with a city code), mobile number (necessary for operative communication with the author, it will not be placed in the published version of the manuscript or transferred to third parties);
  • ORCID identifier (details here: http://orcid.org/), eLibrary SPIN code (details here: http://elibrary.ru/projects/science_index/author_tutorial.asp), ResearcherID (if available), ScopusID (if available).

III. ENGLISH AND TRANSLITERATION

When publishing an article, part or all of the information must be duplicated in English or transliterated (written in Latin letters). It is recommended that the BSI standard (British Standard Institute, UK) is used for transliteration. To transliterate text according to the BSI standard, you can use the resource at https://antropophob.ru/translit-bsi.

IV.TABLES

They should be placed in the text of the article, they should have a numbered title and clearly marked columns easy to read and understand. These tables should correspond to the figures in the text, but should not duplicate the information of the text. References to tables in the text are mandatory.

Each table in the text, together with a numbered title, should be given twice - in Russian and English versions. First, the Russian-language version of the numbered title and table should be given. After that, the English version of the numbered heading and table should be placed, the heading number and data in the table (but not the text!) should coincide. When creating the English version of the table and the heading, do not use transliteration - you should give a full translation into English. The text of the English version of the table heading may not coincide exactly with the text of the Russian version, especially in those cases when it is advisable to give additional explanations of the table content in the heading.

Example:

Table 1. Analysis of publication activity

V. DRAWINDS

Reduce graphical material to minimum (unless the nature of your study dictates otherwise). Each figure must be accompanied by a numbered heading. References to figures in the text are mandatory.

The numbered heading should be given twice - in Russian and in English. Both headings should be placed below the image, the English version of the heading should follow the Russian version. The English version of the heading may, if necessary, contain a more detailed explanation of the illustrated data. Example:

Fig.1. Dynamics of indicators of the processes under study

If there is any text in the image (for example, in textual schemes), in addition to the original figure, a copy of its English version containing all Russian-language text should be inserted into the manuscript. If the image has few text elements (e.g., only units of measurement and axes headings), it is acceptable not to make a separate English-language copy of it, but to duplicate the text in English on the original image.

  • Illustrations (graphs, diagrams, schemes, drawings) drawn with MS Office tools should be contrasting and clear. Illustrations should be made in a separate file and saved as an image (in *.jpeg, *.bmp, *.gif format), and then placed in the manuscript file as a fixed figure. It is unacceptable to put any elements (arrows, headings) over the figure inserted in the manuscript file due to the risk of their loss at the stages of editing and layout.
  • Photographs, screenshots and other non-drawn illustrations should not only be inserted in the text of the manuscript, but also uploaded separately in a special section of the article submission form as *.jpeg, *.bmp, *.gif files (*.doc and *.docx in case of additional markings on the image). The resolution of the image should be >300 dpi. The image files should be given a name corresponding to the number of the figure in the text. In the description of the file the heading under the figure should be given separately. The heading should correspond to the heading of the figure, placed in the text. Example:

Fig. 1. Sechenov Ivan Mikhailovich.

If the manuscript contains figures previously published in other publications (even if their elements have been translated from foreign into Russian), the author must provide to the editorial board the permission of the copyright holder to publish this image in another journal (with the correct indication of the corresponding journal), otherwise it will be considered plagiarism (see "Ethical principles"). The source has to be indicated in the heading.

VI. ABBREVIATIONS

All abbreviations and symbols must be explained in the notes on the tables and figure headings, indicating the used statistical criteria (methods) and parameters of statistical variability (standard deviation, standard error of the mean, etc.). Statistical validity / unreliability of differences in the data presented in the tables is recommended to denote with superscript characters *, **, †, †††, ‡, ‡‡, etc.

VII. ETHICS STATEMENT

To publish the results of experimental research involving humans, it is necessary to indicate whether the research participants signed an informed consent. It is necessary to indicate whether the research protocol was approved by the ethics committee (giving the name of the relevant organization, its location, the protocol number and the date of the committee meeting). For details on the principles of publication ethics that guide the journal's editorial board, see the section "Ethical Principles".

VIII. COVER LETTER

When submitting a manuscript to the editorial board, please, upload files containing scanned images of the completed and certified accompanying documents (in *.pdf or *.jpg format). Sample Cover Letter.

Required documents include a cover letter signed by all authors of the article (or several letters together containing the signatures of all authors of the manuscript).
