The article studies proper names as linguistic culturemes where both linguistic and cultural meanings are characterized. Linguistic and cultural fields forming basic concepts “Time” and “Place” in the thesaurus of Russian emigrant poets’ linguistic personality are described in the article.

The article presents an analysis of African student’s speech portrait and main reasons of its formation. It also gives methodical and psycho-pedagogical recommendations on how to take into account African students’ speech features in teaching process in Russian universities.

This article argues that the possessive form of English nouns of non-living things tends to correlate with the subjectivity of nouns. The subjectivity is likely to be a multi-leveled phenomenon. Though naming non-living things, some group of nouns are quasi-subjective that brings them to adopt a possessive form. The development of the possessive form is regarded as resulting from the typological transformation of the English language i.e. the move from an inflected language to an analytical one.

The article aims at systematizing French and Russian phraseological units characterizing women of easy virtue. The conclusion concerns the most numerous phraseosemantic groups within this topic, the most frequently occurring elements of the units are commented upon. Special attention is paid to the connotative and structural peculiarities of the phraseological units of the chosen subject matter in order to identify information about the culture and national character of representatives of two ethnic groups.

This article is devoted to the contrastive phraseological analysis of idioms of biblical origin in the Russian and English languages. Biblical idioms are regarded as precedent phenomena and means of speech influence. In particular, the article focuses on the non-equivalent idioms of biblical origin in Russian and English. The author identifies and compares the substantive differences in the use of non-equivalent idioms of biblical origin.

The article characterizes toponym as one of the most significant cultural keynotes that reflect linguistic, historical and cultural values of the nation. The analysis is based on toponyms in the nomination of Spanish dishes.
