Abstract

The article identifies common and different features of the concept ‘Destiny’ in Russian and Arabic linguistic cultures. We define the terms cultural concept and linguistic world view as basic units of cultural linguistics. The article also analyzes synonymous rows implementing the concept “fate” in Russian and Arabic to identify the core and the periphery of the linguistic realization of the concept in the compared languages. Then the similarities and differences in the understanding of the studied concept by the representatives of the two linguistic cultures are fixed in using the paremiological base of the two languages. The analysis shows that in the Russian language fate may be some imaginary force, but in Arabic it is always the power of Allah.
