On the etymology of placenames in chronicles

Abstract

The author provides an etymological analysis of several place names mentioned in Russian chronicles in the middle and the late periods of the Old Russian language history (the 14-17 th centuries) ( Kshchema, Naruchad’ (Narovchat), Pokcha (Pochka), Ust’ Vymskiy, Ushitva, Khutyn’, Tchukhloma ).
