A. Blok in the Artistic and Literary Critical Interpretation of Boris Pasternak
Abstract
The article is dedicated to the image of Alexander Blok, created in fiction and non-fiction texts of Boris Pasternak (“Ochrannaya gramota”, “Doctor Zhivago”, “Veter”, etc). Blok is interpreted as both symbolist and realist, because, according to Pasternak, he doesn’t devise his own symbols, but discovers them in the real world. As a result, along with Verlaine, Verhaeren and Rilke, Blok catches metaphysical sense of the turn of the century epoch and anticipates future historical cataclysms. As a whole, in his perception of Blok’s artistic world Pasternak highlights those traits that influenced him at various stages of his creative development, in particular Blok’s vitality of images, autobiographical poetics, impressionism as a way to capture the existence in its continuous formation, inner latitude of a creator.

The Image of Stalin in A. Solzhenitsyn's novel “The First Circle”

In Solzhenitsyn’s novel “The First Circle” is given a literature analysis of an era, the central component of which is primarily associated with the time of Stalin. The novel explores the aesthetic embodiment of a world, in which is provided a concept of historical development.

Urban text in V.R. Tsoy’s creations (intermedial aspect)
Abstract
In this article deals with the position of the concept “supertext” urban text is investigated in the works of rock-poet V.R. Tsoy taking into account specificity of intermedial art, as in rock-poetry verbal and musical art medium interact. The image of the city is considered in the framework of artistic evolution from primitive style to mythologeme structure. The article outlines the periods of V.R. Tsoy’s creativity. During transition the poet uses the opportunities of the gender shift in the definition of the urban text. In view of the presented analysis some peculiarities of Tsoy’s author’s identity is revealed, he is combining neoromantic elements with realistic in his songs.

Eudora Welty and Anton Chekhov: A Long Intimacy Between Strangers
Abstract
The article using concrete examples from Welty’s stories deals with influence of A.P. Chekhov on E. Welty (1909-2001). Reading and rereading Chekhov resulted in writing “Reality in Chekhov’s stories” (1979) which has become a landmark in US studies of Chekhov. Russian writer’s prose influenced Welty’s use and love for detail, priority for dialogue, metaphors, symbols, simplifying and even eliminating of the plot, desire for brevity. Stylistic similarities reflect Chekhov’s and Welty’s affinity for such cornerstone concepts of human existence as life, death, love, human dignity and justice.

Art detail and symbol poetics in John Steinbeck’s “Flight”
Abstract
The article is devoted to studying the art originality in the short story of the XX century American writer, John Steinbeck. The poetics of the symbol and the art detail in “Flight” is investigated in the context of the writer’s style and method formation, as well as in disclosing philosophical and aesthetic issues of the story. Steinbeck’s detail and symbol are regarded as the essential artistic means to give psychological characteristics of the hero and his exterior environment.

Ironic writing in creation of a new version of autobiographism in J. Ruo’s trilogy “Fields of Glory”, “Celebrities”, and “World out of focus”
Abstract
The article analises the role of irony in creation of a new version of autobiographism in J. Ruo’ trilogy “Fields of Glory”, “Celebrities”, and “World out of focus”. Irony mingles with the author's style. J. Ruo's approach to narrate tragic moments in household and communal history distorts conventional pathetic and nostalgic canons; the images of the heroes and the narrator are based on the principle of the caricature hypostasis. With the help of irony Ruo creates a specific way of writing which helps him to get over death and mourning.
