Walter Scott's works perception by his russian contemporaries

Abstract

In the beginning of the XIX century the reading audience in Russia got acquainted with W. Scott's works as early as they had been written by Scott and published in translations everywhere in Europe. Periodicals' activity of the time is in the focus of the article as well as Russian literary criticism formation and new translation culture environment emerging.
