Abstract
The article addresses the issues related to the development of students’ communicative competence in a Russian, to the necessity of mastering their standard spoken language and speech etiquette as an important part of this competence, and describes a mechanism by which it could be practically implemented in the course “Culture of speech for foreigners”.
