The article considers the problem of «implanting» of borrowings from English into Russian and consequently, leading to «impoverishment» of the Russian language and disappearance of a number of cultural values from it.

The article is devoted to the early Middle English manuscript «Proverbs of Alfred». The linguistic analysis shows in what way the English language diachronic development occurred. To answer the question «When did the Middle English begin?» we have to analyze the structural changes of the language.

This article describes papal names, their structural-semantic features in the context of anthroponymic transformations, and motives of their choice. The new name acquires a symbolic meaning and provides a clue to understand the goals set by a newly elected Pope.

The quality of multimedia learning matter is governed by the standards and psychological requirements to screen perception and arrangement. In the course of information skills development the linguistic features of new electronic communicative medium should also be taken into consideration. The core pedagogical principles under the pressure of visualization, new types of electronic texts and favorable conditions for student cognitive activity are about to be changed.

The article presents an experience of designing and teaching the course «Russian language and standard of speech» at Novosibirsk State Technical University. The author finds/considers possible to use teaching principles above in technical and humanities universities.

The article is devoted to one of the methods that serves to form communicative competence of students on the basis of the new manual (on the book by M.Levy «Et si c'etait vrai...») for individual work of students (upper-intermediate and advanced levels) learning the French language.

In clause reception of training of foreign students to the decision of educational research tasks in conditions prehigh school preparations is considered.
