Abstract
Sociocultural approach to teaching Russian language at schools of Republic of Belarus has its specificity, determined with language situation formed in the country. Sociocultural component of teaching presented by knowledge, which will help pupils to know about accepted standards of behavior, standards and rules which regulate cooperation between personality and society, and socially important patriotic, civil and spiritual qualities, necessary for following active inclusion in chosen social and economic, political, educational etc. spheres of activity of present Belarusian society. Tasks and objectives of language education in the process of learning Russian and Belarusian languages are considered, common and specific features of the process of forming of sociocultural competence by means of widening and deepening pupil’s knowledge about phenomenon of culture as a system of universal and national values for Russian and Belarusian peoples in a process of studying Russian language are determined in the article.
