P. Bourdieu on the Nature of Bureaucracy

Abstract

The article analyzes P. Bourdieu’s views on the interrelation between the formation of the system of public service and the establishment of the bureaucratic state. The author emphasizes the role of education and law in the formation of bureaucracy turning into a specific “social reality” (P. Bourdieu). A conclusion is made about the changes in the principles of functioning of the state accompanying the process of bureaucratization.
