Abstract
The author studies active linguistic processes in the Spanish language, currently observing the category of grammatical gender when nominating people in accordance with their profession, activity, or position. In particular, the focus is on the means of Spanish nouns gender expression denoting women, and also relevant for modern Spain question of gender correctness in this field, in the context of the academic “New Spanish grammar” and debate in Spanish press, caused by the report of I. Bosque, the Spanish philologist, a member of the Royal Spanish Academy. The author shows that the nomination of persons in the profession, on the one hand, is a special reflection of the cultural and social environment in terms of gender, and the same names, on the other hand, are linguistic means of impact on the socio-cultural sphere.
