Abstract

The speech of Russian old-timers in Latgale reveals lexemes belonging to other languages which came into being through the Polish language. This fact could be explained by the history of the region, which for the very long period had been integrated in the Poland-Lithuanian statehood. The article analyses lexical material proceeding from two sources: card-catalogue of the Daugavpils University and Work Materials for the Dictionary of Russian Old-Timers Subdialects in Baltics.
