Abstract

The sociological study of the city as a social and cultural phenomenon is fundamentally important for the description and understanding of nowadays world. The human transformation of the environment has long been regarded as not unilateral: the impact of the urban environment on the behavioral practices is ubiquitous due to various factors and obvious in many spheres of human activity. A number of complex scientific theories and not just some separate works are trying to prove that in the modern world the city is not only a type of settlement - it is a complex socio-cultural formation with many specific features that make the life of urban dwellers quite special and therefore it becomes the focus of sociological interest.
