Theme role in the textbook on speech development

Abstract

This paper considers the notion of topic and its role in a textbook aimed at enhancing speech skills of learners of Russian as a second language. Additionally, it examines how to select a topic, its cognitive organization, and structural specifics of the texts and their headings as related to the students' educational level.
