Abstract

The article discusses the main directions of the bilateral Russia-Kazakhstan cooperation after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the creation of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which are based on the joint agreement “on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance” between the Republic of Kazakhstanand the Russian Federation, as well as a number of other treaties and agreements. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the preparation and holding of the forum of interregional cooperationof the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan, which have been held annually since 2003. Within them there are discussed and resolved many problems of trade and economic cooperation, and there are made proposals and projects designed for the prospects of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries. As a result, as it is shown in the article on the specific facts, Russia and Kazakhstan have laid a solid foundation of bilateral relations in the spirit of strategic partnership on the basis of political and economic contacts and legal framework.
