Abstract
The article investigates the modern approaches to address the essence of the motivation of civil servants as a special type of personnel. Based on the analysis of foreign and domestic research in the field of personnel management the author concludes that in the public sector, as well as in the public service motivation is the most widely used on the status or rank. However, the author emphasizes the important value of intangible incentives, which was confirmed by the data presented research staff motivation in the Federal State Institution “Advisory and methodical center licensing”. The paper attempts to clarify the existing and identify new features of modern motivation of public sector employees.
