Abstract

By the time of discovery of the causative agent of syphilis by F. Schaudinn and E. Hoffmann (1905г.) the illness itself was spread for more than 400 years. Even after R. Koch had invented the stages of separation of the pure cultures in the second half of the XIX centuries, scientists were not able to get the strains of the causative agent of the illness for several decades. Numerous attempts to cultivate the treponema pallidum were ineffectual. The reason of these failures was attributed to the high needs of these microbes and the conditions of cultivation. So far the opinion that the causative agent of syphilis could not be cultivated was gradually formed. But the discoveries by R.R. Geltsera and others, by Nichols, by Reuter denied this assumption, the strains of treponema separated by them are cultivated in artificial breeding mediums till now, but with strict observance of all parameters of cultivation. In the scientific literature there are data affirming that treponema pallidum is not steady in the environment. The point of the given experiment consisted in defining the maximum period of survival rate of treponema pallidum in the situation of changing of their optimum conditions of cultivation. As a result of the experiment the maximum period of survival rate of treponema pallidum in the condition of action of several adverse factors was defined as 4 years and 1 month.
