Abstract
The author analyzes writings of Arts and Crafts Movement leaders, American journalism, publicistic and artistic works of Russian writers of the beginning of the 20 th century. It is shown that at the beginning of the 20 th century humanistic ideas of the Renaissance became relevant once again. Basing on the material of udarniks’ writings influence of these ideas on the development of documentary literature of the late 1920s — 1930s is discussed.
