Semantic and Stylistic Functions of the Metonymy in Twentieth Century Prose and Poetry

Abstract

In the article the basic ways of the stylistic use of metonymically organized words are considered on examples from Russian twentieth century prose and poetry. The most important figurative metonymical word usages and their functions are systematized, described and illustrated.
