Abstract

The article analyzes the works of Soviet historians, who first turned to the study of the post-revolutionary political situation in Baku in the 1920s. Among them are S.E Sef, S.S. Shaumyan, G. Stein, etc. It is concluded that the aim of this authors was justification of Bolsheviks’ coming to power while neglecting the role of other political forces. This historiographical situation makes it necessary to identify different interpretations of the events related to the political situation in Baku in 1917−1918 in order to restore the objective picture of the past history of Azerbaijan.
