Abstract

This article reveals the importance of the first seven scrolls, which begin the philosophical treatise “Record of daily study”, written by Gu Yanwu (1613-1682). These scrolls contain an interpretation of classical Confucian canons. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of sources, key principles and norms of Confucian rigor, enshrined in the ritual practice of Confucianism. Understanding the essence of Confucian ritual lets know, how to differentiate Confucianism and Taoism.
