Polyakova L.V.

Abstract

In the article we deal with the collection of the “Leters…” by N.M. Karamzin analyzing them in context of the Russian and world literary genre tradition. The mentioned collection is thought of as some source of motivation inspiring the writer in his work with “The History of the Russian State”. A special attention is paid not only to the connection of Karamzin’s letters with epistolary intercourse by Sh.M. Djupati, but also with the narrative by K.F. Moriz and the Russian national tradition, the dawn of which is connected with the figure of D.I. Fonvizin and which was accepted as naitive one and greatly enriched by F.M. Dostoevsky. The author comes to the conclusion that international and inter-state relations is a topic which has become eternal in the sphere of art by the XXI-st century and which will always be up-to-date; a special portrait painting technology including the usage of national and comparative characteristics, the wide and multifunctional colour range as well as the symbiosis of various genre form does underline the importance of the “Leters…” by N.M. Karamzin in the development not only Russian, but world literature as well. The polymorphic and regional character of the named collection inspires the usage of the philological regionalistics methodology and all of its possibilities while analyzing “local images” in the mentioned literary work

N.N. TOLSTOY: TEENAGE YEARS IN MOSCOW HIGH SCHOOLS

Belousova E.V.

Abstract

The article under consideration is dedicated to the students’ years of N.N. Tolstoy, the elder brother of L.N. Tolstoy. The novelty of the article is characterized by the fact that the unique archive papers dealing with N.N. Tolstoy and unknown to the general public have been introduced into scientific research for the first time. The materials dated to 1830-1840 found in Central Historical Archive of Moscow are of a special importance due to the fact that that period of the Tolstoys life turned out to be obscure because of the absence of any documentary or epistolary sources. Despite applying only to the life of N.N. Tolstoy they can be viewed as a perfect commentary to L.N. Tolstoy trilogy “Childhood. Adolescence.Youth”. Scientific value of the research before us appears to be the possibility for L. Tolstoy literary researchers to get acquainted with new materials related either to the life of N.N. Tolstoy or literary creation of L. Tolstoy. The documents published have been unknown to the writer’s biographers. Conclusion: the archives contain a lot of mysteries the revelation of which will contribute to the history of Russian literature.

We are trying to consider the name, surname and patronymic of the system. As a result, in each case, there is a original text, giving a complete picture of the nature of a character. In fact, the anthroponyms is a nominations of types, the most common among officials, which gives the images almost a mythological generalization. Anthroponyms constitute a system, which corresponds to the system of the characters in the play (Jadov contrasted with the other characters).

TYNYANOV AND OPOYAZ

Berezhnaya E.P.

Abstract

The article deals with the research of Yu. Tynyanov’s methodology regardless of the OPOYAZ paradigm. Slovotsentrizm (the dominant role of the word in human consciousness) of the Russian culture is clearly and tangibly manifested in the magic of OPOYAZ word, meaning a society of researchers aiming to find and examine the formal laws of prevalently poetic language. Both I.Shklovsky and B. Eyhenbaum considered the scientific historical construction of literature in terms of slovotsentrizm tradition. Therefore, their coordinated cooperation with the existing regime was required. The Tynyanov’s case is not typical for the Russian society. Having made literature and what he most loved in it - poetry, poems the subject of research, he did not rely on the art of a word only. His overflow from the field of philology was the departure from those forms of expression, which considered to be an ideological substratum of culture, to nonverbal intuitions, as the latter are not burdened by the system of rhetorical rules and are better able to create a new and more free world view.

“THE SON OF SAM” IN THE NEW YORK TIMES: CONTENT ANALYSIS RESULTS

Katkova L.V.

Abstract

The article aims at the study of the representation of serial killer David Berkowitz (The Son of Sam) in The New York Times using content analysis. The research includes all newspaper articles that have been published from the time of the first murder and until the judgment of the court. During the research the author analyzes not only exterior characteristics of the articles (genre, photographs, comments, etc.) but also interior characteristics created by the author (evaluative and descriptive elements, character properties). The author assumes that the newspaper intentionally or unintentionally creates an appealing image of the killer using different methods and linguistic techniques. Statistical data that we have obtained allow us to assert that the author`s hypothesis is confirmed. In particular, the author finds out that The New York Times journalists depict David Berkowitz as a worldwide celebrity and a mystic monster and endow him with supernatural properties and outstanding abilities. Such depiction has a great influence on the audience`s perception of the killer. Many examples of the killer`s psychological aggression in the newspaper allow us to assert that The New York Times is partly responsible for the panic in New York City during a yearlong Son of Sam shooting spree.

WHY THE TERMNATION OF ANALOGUE TERRESTRIAL TV IN RUSSIA DOESN’T STOP

Bakhus A.O.

Abstract

All aspects preventing the termination of analogue terrestrial TV in Russia are considered the most detailed and in full. Monitoring of mass media publications on the subject for six years - formed the basis of the analytical material of this article. Features of distribution and relaying of TV signals are shown with respect to Russia with its vast territory. The multiethnic and multireligious composition of the country, the diversity of languages and dialects are marked. It is concluded that the main limiting factor in the transition to digital broadcasting (DVB-T) is the probability of the possible loss of most of the local (regional) TV channels. The chronology of the formation of three national multiplexes (digital packets) and the disappearance of their regional channels is reconstructed. Possible and well known ways out of this situation for local television such as the association of broadcasters and the production of their own gear are pointed. As a result of this study the author proposed their own solutions to the problems of regional television. Other restraining factors of digitization of television broadcast are reviewed such as a huge fleet of analog TV receivers, the flow of spectators into the Internet network, technical imperfection and obsolescence of integrated technologies, competitive with cable, satellite and IP broadcasting.
