Abstract
The article is dedicated to the problem of the perception of promotional colonial literature by ordinary colonists. Drawing on the example of Pilgrim fathres, New Plymouth founders, we can see how these advertising pamphlets influenced choosing of place for the future colony and defined goals and organization of colonial undertaking. The author analyzes the story of creation and structure of notable examples of English promotional literature. The purpose of the article is the definition of distance between literature on colonization and colonial enterprises inspired by it.
