On March 30, a methodological seminar of the Department of Comparative Political Science dedicated to the study of civil identity in the post-Soviet space was held in an online format on the MS Teams platform.The key speakers were Professor of the Department of Comparative Political Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the head of the scientific seminar of the Department, Professor Yu. M. Pochta; Head of the Department of Political Science of the Russian-Armenian (Slavic) University O. L. Sarkisyan. The seminar was also attended by the head of the Department of Comparative Political Science of the RUDN M. M. Mchedlova, Associate Professor of the Department D. B. Kazarinova and lecturer of the Department of Political Science of RAU N. A. Dunamalyan.During the seminar, the issues of the formation and construction of civil identity in Russia and other post-Soviet countries, the peculiarities of the formation of identity in the process of the collapse of empires, the role of state policy in this issue, the relationship of cultural-ethnic and civil identity, the relationship of loyalty with civil identity, the peculiarities of the formation of civil identity in Armenia, its connection with the development of civil society and the factor of the Armenian Diaspora were discussed. They also discussed modern approaches to the definition and understanding of civil identity and the methodology of the study of civil identity, in particular, in the framework of a joint project of the Department of Comparative Political Science of the RUDN and the Department of Political Science of RAU.The seminar was attended by staff and postgraduates of the Department of Comparative Political Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Department of Political Science of the Institute of Law and Politics of the Russian-Armenian (Slavic) University, and other departments of the two universities.The event was held as part of an international project – RFBR grant for scientific project No. 20-511-05025 " Development of Civil Identity in the Post-Soviet space: Trends, Challenges, Risks (on the example of Russia and Armenia)». Issue 4 for 2021 will be devoted to the problem of identity. It will include, among other things, speeches by the participants of the round table
