Abstract

The article is devoted to studying the art originality in the short story of the XX century American writer, John Steinbeck. The poetics of the symbol and the art detail in “Flight” is investigated in the context of the writer’s style and method formation, as well as in disclosing philosophical and aesthetic issues of the story. Steinbeck’s detail and symbol are regarded as the essential artistic means to give psychological characteristics of the hero and his exterior environment.
