Due to the need to provide energy resources, South Korea is very interested in the possibility of commercializing this route. The article examines issues such as the volume of cargo transported along the Northern Sea Route, the comparison of the length of the two routes, and the expected result in the case of South Korea's participation in the Arctic LNG-2 project. It was found that the use of the Northern Sea Route reduces the route from South Korea to Europe by about 6000 km and the transportation period by 10 days compared to the route through the Suez Canal.
