CITY AS A TOURIST CENTER: DYNAMICS OF THE TOP DESTINATION CITIES´ RANKING

Abstract

Article is devoted to a research of dynamics of attendance of the most attractive cities of the world which are the large tourist centers. The analysis of rating of these cities on tourist arrivals by means of a technique of ranging has allowed to reveal practical lack of territorial shifts in the list of leaders during the period from 2012 to 2015, and also to define the most popular regions for visit – Europe and Asia. The factors influencing development of the tourist centers have been revealed and also the assessment of the criteria inducing tourists to the choice of this or that city as the travel purposes is carried out. It is defined that the major criteria at the choice of the tourist direction are: existence of unique sights, beach rest, and also economic availability.
