The analysis of rating of these cities on tourist arrivals by means of a technique of ranging has allowed to reveal practical lack of territorial shifts in the list of leaders during the period from 2012 to 2015, and also to define the most popular regions for visit – Europe and Asia. The factors influencing development of the tourist centers have been revealed and also the assessment of the criteria inducing tourists to the choice of this or that city as the travel purposes is carried out. It is defined that the major criteria at the choice of the tourist direction are: existence of unique sights, beach rest, and also economic availability.</italic></p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p><italic>Статья посвящена исследованию динамики посещаемости наиболее привлекательных городов мира, являющихся крупными туристическими центрами. Анализ рейтинга данных городов по туристским прибытиям с помощью методики ранжирования позволил выявить практическое отсутствие территориальных сдвигов в списке лидеров в период с 2012 по 2015 гг., а также определить наиболее популярные регионы для посещения – Европу и Азию. Были выявлены факторы, влияющие на развитие туристических центров, а также проведена оценка критериев, побуждающих туристов к выбору того или иного города как цели путешествия.
