Abstract

The paper is devoted to analysis o modern open innovation instruments used by Chinese companies within national ecosystem framework. The government role in development of innovation activities is discussed in the paper.  China has made science-based innovation an important priority and have invested substantially in building institutions and capabilities. National ecosystem affects growth and efficiency of innovative companies. Chinese companies offer modern products and services to domestic and foreign customers. Based on firm-level case studies, various instruments of open innovation of Chinese companies are discussed. National ecosystem affects growth and efficiency of innovative companies. Best Chinese companies operate at China speed: they find many ideas through open innovation processes, recruit and develop talents in novel ways, actively enter in partnerships, rapidly innovate. Innovative companies get multifaceted efficient state support, which has very articulated goal-setting – growth of national technological champions.The purpose of the studyis toreview open innovation instruments used by Chinese companies and to discuss the role of the state in fostering innovation in the country. This information can be useful for Russian innovative companies.
