Abstract
Russia is the first country in terms of forest land. The Far Eastern Federal District has the largest reserves of ripe and perestroika operating forests, as well as huge resources of non-wood forest products. But a very large territory and extremely poorly developed transport infrastructure currently lead to the inefficient use of forest resources of the Far East of the Russian Federation, although the border countries of the Asia-Pacific region have great potential for importing products from the forest complex of the Far East. The article identifies the problems and prospects for the development of the forest complex of the Far East of the Russian Federation both from the point of view of harvesting and processing wood, and from the point of view of harvesting and processing non-wood forest products. The possibilities of plantation cultivation of forest resources, re-industrialization of timber enterprises of the Far East, development of transport infrastructure were analyzed. It was concluded that the development of the forest complex of the Far East requires not only strengthening the forest industry, but also work in the field of infrastructure and management methods.
