Abstract
The article analyzes the population’s dynamics of the districts of the Ryazan oblast’ districts for 2000–2022 in comparison with similar average indicators of the Russian Federation and the Central Federal District. The key reasons for the depopulation of the region, internal spatial differences are revealed: 4 types of districts according to the peculiarities of population dynamics (areas with population growth – 2 out of 25, areas with high, medium and low population decline – 23). Among the main reasons for the population’s decline in the most problematic areas (in addition to low birth rates typical for Russian Federation), the leading role is played by the lack of transport links with the regional center, lack of higher and professional educational institutions, the closure of industrial and agricultural enterprises, the low level of infrastructure development for a comfortable life of the population, etc. Options for optimizing the demographic structure of the population are proposed.
