Abstract
China has entered a new stage of development after almost 30 years of economic reforms and accelerated economic growth and socio-economic changes. This transition has been explicitly articulated at the XVII Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, that confirmed important changes in economic policy of the country.
The current paper covers main stages of Chinese reform in the context of political economy analysis; it covers main economic policy challenges and alternative options to address these. The author' belief is that this topic is highly relevant and this analysis would improve theoretical underpinnings for understanding of the perspectives of Chinese social and economic development.
