Abstract

The task of this article is to reveal the motive of emptiness in V. Pelevin’s novel “Chapaev and Void”.We consider the philosophical basis of the concept of emptiness in the artistic picture of the novel’s world, the origins of which date back to eastern and western cultures. The concept of “emptiness” in the work of V. Pelevin is seen as an attempt to gain new ideological attitudes in the conditions of a spiritual and philosophical crisis. Not only the main images of the novel Chapaev and Pustota are analyzed, but also minor story lines that are of no small importance for understanding the image of emptiness in the novel.
