Abstract

In this paper, the example of the most prominent specialized publications for women in the mid-nineteenth century (the journal «Swallow» and «Dawn»), discussed trends in women's press in Russia, the nature of the discussions held at that time between supporters and opponents of the existence of «female» magazines socio-orientation of public controversy.
