Abstract

In the present paper, a current state of the intellectual property institute and its correlation with the other elements of the national innovative system is examined on the example of Italy. The analysis shows an insufficiency of some important aspects such as the financing of R&D both from the business side and from the state side, the level of education of the participants of an innovative process, a level of the intellectual property protection. These leads to the gap between Italy and the world leaders of innovative development by a number of the indicators. The program of innovative development of Italy which is performed over a period of years has some positive results, particularly an increase of applications on the intellectual property registration. However, so far the applied measures are insufficient for the strengthening of Italian positions as an innovatively developed country on the international level.
