THE SOVIET INSTITUTIONAL STRUCTURES AND THEIR ROLE IN THE SPANISH EMIGRANTS ADAPTATION PROCESS

The article focuses on the activities of certain structures (already existing and just created) in the territory of the Soviet Union in the Spanish immigrants who arrived in the Soviet Union during and after the Civil war of 1936-1939, which ended with the fall of the Second Republic and the establishment of the Franco regime. The author devoted special attention to the necessity of functioning of such entities in the life of a Spanish exile in the Soviet Union because of its special nature related to the uniqueness of the historical stay of the Spaniards in the territory of modern Russia. The article discusses aspects of social and economic assistance provided by a «Soviet Spaniards» from the Soviet sections of a number of international organizations directly created to support immigrants and refugees - International Red Aid (MOPR) and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The article highlights the role of special institutions responsible for the cultural adaptation of immigrants as a community of people of one ethnic origin through the activities of the so-called Spanish Centre in Moscow, originally created by internal forces of the Spanish emigrants, but later got offi cial, almost governmental status and change over time the place of deployment, however, continues to operate to this day.
