Abstract

The article is devoted to the historical review of Sino-German relations in the 18th - mid-20th centuries. Sino-German relations were formally established in in the mid 19 century, when Prussia and the Qing Empire’s China concluded the first Sino-German treaty (treaty of Tianjin). The author gives a retrospective of major events in Sino-German relations in the 19th - mid-20th centuries and analyzes their influence on the relations between the two countries. The article also highlights the development of military-technical cooperation between the Kuomintang China and Germany and the current balance of power in the Asia-Pacific region before the World war II.
