Аннотация

С тех пор как началось изучение английской правовой истории, ученые стали задаваться вопросом о степени влияния римского права на развитие традиции common law. Специалисты в области истории права прежде всего начали уделять внимание проблематике преподавания и применения римско-правового наследия. В результате стало общепризнанным, что римское право в Англии было введено учителем, магистром Вакарием, которого следует признать одной из значительных фигур в правовой истории XII столетия. Вместе с тем на страницах отечественных исследований мы не найдем отдельных работ, посвященных его биографии, деятельности и творческому наследию. В данной статье в основном уделяется внимание одному все еще неоднозначно решаемому в научной литературе вопросу, связанному с местом преподавания Вакарием римского права в Англии, в частности в Оксфорде.
