Аннотация

В статье исследуется период конца XVII - начала XVIII в. в истории Новой Англии, когда под влиянием новой науки и философии Просвещения в идейном и интеллектуальном климате происходили серьезные изменения. Авторы анализируют взгляды Коттона Мезера (1663-1728) на проблему взаимоотношений науки и религии. Пуританский священник одним из первых на американском континенте воспринял новую науку и философию, попытавшись использовать последние научные достижения для укрепления основ пуританской веры.
