The relevance of this issue lies in the fact that there is still no special scientific research devoted to this problem in academia. The main method was the comparison of papyrus and temple texts, as well as the visual representation of Roman rulers and the god Sobek which reflect the issue of identifying the emperor with the crocodile-headed deity. The material presented demonstrates that, according to the beliefs of the Egyptians, the Roman emperor, portrayed in the image of the solar god Sobek, was believed to facilitate the rebirth of the world, pacify the population, and act as the protector of Egypt. Furthermore, during the 1st and 2nd centuries, the cult of the emperor, venerated in the form of Sobek, underwent an evolution. It shifted from the image of a ruler affirming the eternity of his reign under Augustus to the notion that Egypt was governed by the god Sobek, who asserted his authority through the emperor's image.</p>
культ императора, почитавшегося в образе Собека, эволюционировал от сложившегося при Августе образа правителя, утверждающего вечность своего правления, до представления о том, что Египтом правит бог Собек, который утверждает свою власть через образ императора.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Horus</kwd><kwd>Helios-Ra</kwd><kwd>Osiris</kwd><kwd>Roman imperial cult</kwd><kwd>Pax Romana</kwd><kwd>Octavian Augustus</kwd><kwd>Claudius</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>Хор</kwd><kwd>Гелиос-Ра</kwd><kwd>Осирис</kwd><kwd>римский императорский культ</kwd><kwd>Pax Romana</kwd><kwd>Октавиан Август</kwd><kwd>Клавдий</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta><fn-group/></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Brovarski E.
