In addition to its strategic positioning, and also because of demand of the PRC leadership to return China this region of the Tibet (TAR), Tawang gets the important place in the system of Tibetan Buddhism: it is the birthplace of the sixth Dalai Lama, and the current, Fourteenth leader of Tibetan Buddhism, who fled in 1959 from Lhasa into India via this area. According to the author, such combination of politics and religion is fraught with dangerous potential for conflict, which, in spite of the ongoing development of Sino-Indian relations and generally stable situation on the border, can in the shortest time create a real threat to the peaceful development of the border areas, and impact on the search of the new incarnation of the Dalai Lama.
По мнению автора, такое сочетание политики и религии таит в себе опасный конфликтный потенциал, который, несмотря на поступательное развитие китайско-индийских отношений и в целом стабильную ситуацию на границе, может в кратчайшие сроки создать реальную угрозу мирному развитию приграничных территорий и сказаться на поисках новой инкарнации Далай-ламы.</trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Tibet</kwd><kwd>China</kwd><kwd>India</kwd><kwd>Tawang</kwd><kwd>Arunachal Pradesh</kwd><kwd>the Dalai Lama</kwd><kwd>the Karmapa</kwd><kwd>reincarnation</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>Тибет</kwd><kwd>Китай</kwd><kwd>Индия</kwd><kwd>Таванг</kwd><kwd>Аруначал-прадеш</kwd><kwd>Далай-лама</kwd><kwd>Кармапа</kwd><kwd>реинкарнация</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Кальвокоресси П.
