The author considers aims, content, distinguishing characteristics and conditions of teaching reading as an autonomous process at freshman classes of a linguistic educational institution.</abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru">Статья посвящена автономности — важнейшей характеристики чтения на современном этапе.
