The semantic structure of these words is treated within the framework of the main typological characteristic of the English language, which is an analytical one. This approach explains the meaning of of, off from and about as resulting from the loss of inflected forms and morphology. These prepositions differ as discrete and diffusive ones.
<trans-abstract xml:lang="ru">В статье описывается смысловая структура английских предлогов of, off, from и about в связи с проблемой обучения английскому языку. Внутренняя форма этих предлогов рассматривается в свете типологии английского языка. Переход от флективного к аналитическому типу и утрата развитой морфологии определили изменение его семантической структуры. Предлагается различение этих предлогов по признаку диффузность/дискретность.</trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>off</kwd><kwd>from</kwd><kwd>about</kwd><kwd>typological characteristics</kwd><kwd>communicative perspective</kwd><kwd>a system of cases</kwd><kwd>discrete and diffusive prepositions</kwd><kwd>actant</kwd><kwd>circumstancial object</kwd><kwd>prepositions of</kwd><kwd>off from and about</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>типологические характеристики</kwd><kwd>аналитический строй</kwd><kwd>падежная система</kwd><kwd>предлоги</kwd><kwd>актанты</kwd><kwd>сирконстанты</kwd><kwd>диффузные и дискретные предлоги</kwd><kwd>предлоги of</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Гзгзян Д.М.
