The authors examine the dynamics of Sino-Soviet interaction in 1949-1985 within the context of this geopolitical problem. The article is based on historical sources (including proclama tions and speeches of Chinese and Soviet representatives at official meetings and within the framework of the General Assembly, as well as diplomatic correspondence) and on the Russian and foreign historiography. The paper covers the period of cooperation between Beijing and Moscow (1950s) and the time of high tension in bilateral relations (1960-1985). The PRC government's harsh criticism of Soviet diplomacy, together with its rigid position with regard to the establishment of official relations between the Soviet Union and Taiwan, lead to the conclusion that Beijing could have been deliberately delaying the solution of the issue, using the Taiwan question in its political interests. The authors make suggestions concerning what could have influenced such a position of Beijing towards the Taiwan issue. The real aims of Beijing concerning Taiwan were different from those that Beijing officially proclaimed.</p>
Истинные цели Пекина в отношении проблемы политического статуса острова во многом отличались от тех, которые были официально провозглашены руководством КНР.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>the Taiwan question</kwd><kwd>the USSR</kwd><kwd>the PRC</kwd><kwd>Chinese foreign policy</kwd><kwd>the Soviet diplomacy</kwd><kwd>Sino-Soviet relations</kwd><kwd>Sino-Taiwanese relations</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>тайваньский вопрос</kwd><kwd>СССР</kwd><kwd>КНР</kwd><kwd>внешнеполитический курс КНР</kwd><kwd>советская дипломатия</kwd><kwd>советско-китайские отношения</kwd><kwd>советско-тайваньские отношения</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="en">Baryshnikov, V.N.
