The absence of the unified accepted point of view on the problem is revealed. The assumption that such inconsistent and conflicting results are partly due to the inadequate statistical methods used for these hypotheses verification is substantiated.
<trans-abstract xml:lang="ru">В статье анализируются результаты исследований, проведенных за последние 60 лет в рамках изучения особенностей проявления когнитивных стилей у мужчин и женщин. Показано, что до настоящего времени не существует единого взгляда на проблему. Обосновывается предположение, что одной из причин неустойчивых и зачастую противоречивых результатов может являться применение неадекватных математических методов, используемых для доказательства соответствующих гипотез.</trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>cognitive style</kwd><kwd>field dependence — field independence</kwd><kwd>verification of hypothesis</kwd><kwd>statistical tests</kwd><kwd>parametric and distribution — free criteria</kwd><kwd>range of criterion application</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>когнитивный стиль</kwd><kwd>полезависимость/поленезависимость</kwd><kwd>проверка гипотез</kwd><kwd>статистические критерии</kwd><kwd>параметрические и непараметрические критерии</kwd><kwd>область применения критерия</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Беловол Е.В.
