The purpose of the paper is the description of hippocampus, its functions in foreign language teaching (short- and long-term memory, analyze, synthesis and memorizing information, logical thinking, forming associated words combinations, skills to product writing and oral speech, etc. Hippocampus is a division (gyrus) of the brain, it has influence to man’s ability to learn foreign languages. Hippocampus is described in the article in aspects of its functions, periods of growing, methods of its development and reasons of its reduction. The role of hippocampus in formation of bilingual/multilingual person is described in the research [1. С. 162].</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>В статье рассмотрено влияние гиппокампа - отдела (извилины) головного мозга - на способность человека к изучению иностранных языков. Цель работы - представить описание гиппокампа, его функций с точки зрения обучения иностранным языкам (кратковременная и долговременная память, анализ, синтез и запоминание информации, логическое мышление, формирование ассоциативных связей слов, умение продуцировать письменную и устную речь и др.), период интенсивного роста. В статье перечислены причины роста (ведение здорового образа жизни, положительные эмоции) и уменьшения (стресс, депрессия, болезни и др.) гиппокампа. В работе описано влияние этого отдела мозга на процесс изучения иностранных языков («адаптацию» мозгом новых языков [1.
