The analysis of recent English studies leads to a conclusion on the direct link between Tolstoy’s quests and modernity as well as on the special significance of his heritage for understanding transcultural dialogue in the present century.
<trans-abstract xml:lang="ru">В оксюморонном сочетании «консервативный новатор» делается попытка отразить взаимодействие противоположных установок, характеризующих философию и эстетику Толстого, что определило в том числе его рецепцию в мире. С учетом последних англоязычных исследований в статье делается вывод, что искания Толстого напрямую связаны с модерностью и в начале XXI в. его наследие приобретает особую актуальность для осмысления транскультурного диалога.</trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Leo Tolstoy</kwd><kwd>reception</kwd><kwd>modernity</kwd><kwd>transcultural (transnational) comparatism</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>Лев Толстой</kwd><kwd>рецепция</kwd><kwd>модерность</kwd><kwd>транскультурная (транснациональная) компаративистика</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Воспоминания и исследования о творчестве Ф.М.
