The article examines the on-growing role of international sports events as some newsbreaks which are actively used within the current political agenda. Several examples reveal the use of biased and fake information to form a negative image of Russia in front of the world community. The author indicates several trends of the coverage of international sports events as well as opportunities to improve the country's image through their implementation and the effective delivery of content.

В данной статье рассматривается возрастающая роль международных спортивных мероприятий как информационных поводов, которые активно используются в рамках текущей политической повестки. На примерах раскрывается использование тенденциозной и фейковой информации для формирования негативного образа Российской Федерации в глазах мировой общественности. Обозначаются некоторые тенденции в освещении международных спортивных событий, а также возможности для улучшения имиджа страны с помощью их проведения и эффективной подачи контента.
